Musical tastes aside, it's hard not to recognize eccentric and over the top ODD Future front man Tyler the Creator's genius. Outside of the handful of albums under his belt, this kid is also a fashion designer and music video producer.
The visual media that surrounds the ODD Future brand is jarring. Somewhere between BBW gone wrong, every fairy tale's favorite centaur and a horror flick car crash you can't stop watching.
Tyler the Creator understands absurdity like no one else of this makeshift generation. Every music video builds upon the previous becoming more and more outlandish.
So what does this have to do with Diane Arbus.
Diane Arbus is known for her images that live and breathe the awkward, the uncomfortable. The voyeur watching something that shouldn't have transpired in the first place. It's as if she is giving the audience just a taste of just everything SHE knows. The narrative she creates is open ended and leaves space for wild interpretation.
Tyler is to Hip Hop what Diane Arbus is to Photography, a refreshing slap in the head.
